What’s the Next Big Thing in Locks?
Would you believe: locks that send you a text message when
someone's entering your home?
Residential locks with Internet capabilities are here from
Schlage, one of the biggest names in locks.
New for 2009, Schlage revealed its new LiNK door locks, "the first
and only wireless-controlled door locks," according to the
company's statement.
With Schlage LiNK door locks, homeowners have remote control to
their residential locks. Visitors and residents can open the locks
with the 11-digit keypad at the door, but the access code can also
be activated, entered, or disabled through a web portal or mobile
app.
Plus, the LiNK door locks system notifies you by text message or
e-mail when the access codes are used, and generates reports of the
time and day when codes were used.
Schlage claims that their LiNK door locks mean homeowners will
"never worry about their house keys," again. More to the point,
however, you may never have to worry about whether Sparky's dog
walker showed up, or whether the cleaning lady stayed for the full
two hours she was supposed to.
The LiNK web portal requires a monthly $12.99 subscription fee.
Homeowners may also choose to install a camera with their new LiNK
door locks as well.
